April and Early May Update

It has been a busy month for us at Ancient Life, and we figured we would update everyone on what’s happening.
Emu’s Everywhere:
Our flock of Emus turned two months last week and we are so proud of how healthy and hilarious they have been. Our five Emus are growing fast with our tallest (Blue) now standing at just under three and a half feet! They’ve still got a long way to go though but were happy to report that their new home has broken ground and they’ll be frolicking in the field very soon.
You might have noticed our Emu Cam was down for a majority of last week, while we were sorry to deprive you of our hilarious feathered friends, we had to expand the walls on their enclosures as they were sneaking out at night to run rampage around our lab! (which sits adjacent to their holding pen) The walls are now high enough to hold them and if in the future we need to isolate one of them as adults we’ve already begun working on another expansion plan that will keep them contained and safe, though we're hoping that we won’t have to separate any of the flock.
Our smallest feathered friend Echo has officially been identified as a male and has been given the name Conan! Not only is he named after one of the greatest talk show hosts in all of late night he shares many characteristics with the towering comedian, but he’s also developed an inquisitive personality that we absolutely adore watching!
Paleo-Botanists on Parade:
Our paleo-botany section has been bust cultivating three new living fossils that raise our total number to seven! Our plants are doing wonderful and are about to be transferred back into the lab where we will be able to better control their environment! Weve considered adding a camera to our streams that will rotate through the garden every couple of hours to give you a sneak peek of our work outside of our frolicking emus!
Old Displays Made New:
Recent opportunities had Sam pulling out the old exhibits from our ill-fated museum and polishing them up! While they won’t be on display anywhere, you’ll be able to visit any time soon a few pieces will be used in the upcoming Summer Reading Program hosted by the Ozark Regional Library! Were currently using many of the displays as decorations around our new research outpost and it definitely makes the place just a bit classier!
Travel Through the World of Paleo-Biology with Our Very Own Sam Johnson:Starting June the 13th Sam will be on tour speaking at a few libraries in the area around our research facility! He will be bringing loads of our old exhibits and even a few new ones to highlight life across the history of earth’s fossil record! Keep your eyes open for a post here on our blog when the dates are officially posted and we hope to see a few of you there!
Closing Notes and Shout Outs:
It’s been a fantastic month for us here at Ancient Life Biological Research and we are over the moon with all of the things we mentioned and a few we have not. Sam has recently had the amazing opportunity to work with the guys over at Lost World Studios while volunteering his time at the St Genevieve Museum and Learning Center and wed like to give a special shout out to Guy, Mike, Fred, Bill, and Bob along with all the other amazing members of the team at the St Genevieve Museum and Lost World Studios for putting up with our wacky director and his eccentric ideas. As always we would like to give a massive thank you to our generous investors who have elected to remain nameless and mysterious but continue to allow us to not only expand our research but begin work on something we can’t wait to share with you… when its ready for sharing.
As always thanks for joining us here on AncientLifeSTL.ORG and we hope you have a wonderful day exploring What Only the Stars Have Seen!
